One day at a time!

One day at a time is another way to say ” live now, in the moment”. When we are dealing with our sobriety the only moment that really matters is NOW. We can not drink NOW, or not abuse drugs NOW. The only time we can take action is NOW! We can only  effect the NOW and worrying about dealing with FUTURE NOWS is worrying about something we cannot do anything about. One day at a time really is one moment at a time. Handle each moment and you will handle the day, handle each day and you will handle the week, and handle each week and you will handle the month, and handle each month you will handle the year. It really comes down to the moment, the NOW!

So “one day at a time” really says more than we think. It is really about being present, living in the now. Taking control of our life and in particular taking control of our sobriety.  Our sobriety starts with being present and living in the present.  Being present to the profound importance of life, our lives and the gift of life.

At La Residenza Villa, our luxury transitional sober home, we have practices that allow us to be present and live in the now, therefore not living in the yesterdays or tomorrows. Our ongoing growing and developing and our capacity to be happy every day is the foundation of our sobriety. Here at La Residenza Villa we focus on all people and in particular to the LGBT Gay community. We are proud to be considered one of the finest luxury sober living homes. We are inspired to be considered the finest luxury LGBT Gay sober living residence.

We are a function of the conversations we engage in!

A large part of who we are is determined by our language, our listening and speaking. We seem to be swayed by our conversations, the ones that come out of our mouth and the ones that go into our ears. Sober Living provides a structured environment to be present to our conversations and therefore have them support our new life of sobriety. A conversation is powerful enough to determined our actions, especially those conversations that live in our heads. To me, those are not real conversations, those are thoughts. And you can’t trust thoughts… they will tell you how small you are, or how fat or skinny you are, or how you are not enough. The Buddhists say the only good mind is a silent mind. We have no control of our thoughts, but we do have control of our conversations.

Here at La Residenza Villa, a luxury transitional sober living home, we strive to master our conversations on sobriety therefore mastering our actions. If we could be present to what comes out of our mouths and what goes into our ears, we can be the master of our life!

New Year’s Day: an opportunity to create your life

New Year’s Day is just another day, like any other day, and yet we can use it as a special day, as a day where we could put the past in the past, and create a brand new future. We could use the early days of January as”a line in the Sand”, demarcating our old habits with our new commitments.

Here at La Residenza Villa, a luxury transitional sober living home, we are clear we can do this any day of our life. And the first new days of a New Year is the perfect time to begin new lives and stop the things that we know damage us. We can use these days to “Prime” a brand new life for us.

Our residents at our luxury sober living home support each other daily in their new commitments to sobriety. We are truly a family that care for each other very, very much and we are a stand that each and every one of us has the life we not only deserve, but the life we dream of. Together we can do what seems so difficult to do alone.

Our luxury sober living home in Carlbad, California is located on a private beach. Our luxury sober living house is a “San Diego Home Of The Year”. We are here to serve you on your transition from a recovery center to your new life of sobriety. It is our intention that you will make lifelong friends that will form a support group for years in your new sober life.

We have a direct focus and commitment to the LGBT community. Our residents whether straight, gay or lesbianand we all bond together and support each other with no judgements, prejudice or ther forms of discrimination.

Luxury LGBT Sober Home celebrates the Holidays.

La Residenza Villa, a LGBT transitional sober home in Carlsbad California, celebrated it’s first Christmas with a Christmas Eve Dinner and a Christmas Day Breakfast. “When we get together with the ones that are our support and the ones we love, we are living our dreams in the moment”, says Dr. Paul Turro, the Founder and Executive Director. “Human Beings love other Human Beings, we love the smell of each other, the warmth of each other, the caring of each other.” We are proud of our Executive Transitional Sober Living facility and our connection to all people in recovery especially the LGBT community.

Can we really change?

How come we decide to change, make new resolutions, (especially at this time of the year), sometimes over and over again, year after year, with really nothing changing, especially over time? A great man once said that  ‘An agreement made to yourself is an agreement made with a fool’. By now many of us know how foolish we are when it could feel to promising ourselves that we will never do ‘that’ again.  And then the next week we are doing ‘that’, but now we say…. “no, this really is the last time”, only to do ‘that’ again the next day….. or some similar scenario to that.

Whether it’s our commitment to diet, or eating healthy, or exercising or not talking to our loved one’s in ‘THAT’ tone of voice, or not drinking or using drug, WHATEVER!  By now most of us know that we, ourselves, are not enough to really have that change occur. It is too easy for us to justify in our mind, in our ‘heads’ almost anything, and falter in our commitment.

What really makes the difference are the people around us. They can hold us to a commitment much more effectively, than we can alone. That is the foundation of La Residenza Villa, a luxury transitional sober living home in southern California. We are a family of residents that support each other in our recovery in a way we could never do alone.

Can we really change? Yes, with the love and contribution from the support group we build around us. Happy Holidays to all!

Dinner Time!

“The Holidays” and Sober Living

As we all know, the holidays are here and for some of us this means a time for stressors and triggers. We have time off from work and school to be with our friends and family, not to be in “sober living for the holidays”. For some, the holiday season presents itself to be an ideal time to work on personal issues and we’ve embraced them. We have provided a luxury sober living environment for those who choose to take time for themselves.

Who you are is a function of the people you hang around.

Who you are is a function of the people you hang around. You hang around with people who compromise their live, you will compromise your life. Not that these people are walking around saying  ” hey, I have compromised my life”, but you know they could have done so much more with their life.

You hang around with people who have and will have the life they want…. guess what kind of life you will have.
That is the major function of a transitional sober living. Here at La Residenza Villa, a transitional sober living home in Carlsbad California, we are clear that our conversations direct our future and the future of our sobriety. we are proud to be a ‘family’ taking back our lives from addictions.
We are not only an Executive upscale sober living home for all, we are a Gay friendly sober living home catering to the entire LGBT sober living community. Our conversations are wtihout judgment, predudice and all forms of discimination.

What is a Transitional sober living home?

A transitional sober living residence provides its guests a private relaxing serene environment to transition into their new life, after completing their primary care addiction treatment and before returning home. Studies define this as the critical period of addiction recovery where one is more apt to face the possibility of relapse. Each guest usually has a different length of sobriety and this allows for a support group of the residents who are able to aid and motivate each other through their own positive experiences and challenges.

Many recovered residents don’t have the luxury to experience a transitional sober living home. They must return to work to pay their bills, or return to the responsibilities of their job or families or both. But it only makes sense that the more time you have to strengthen your recovery the more predictable is one’s sober outcome.

AT LA RESIDENZA VILLA,a luxury sober living transitional residence in Carlsbad California,WE UNDERSTAND THAT INPATIENT TREATMENT IS A VERY GOOD START TO RECOVERY AND TRANSITIONAL SOBER LIVING PROMOTES AND HELPS ESTABLISH LONG TERM RECOVERY.

We are very proud at La Residenza Villa, to be open to all people and communities especially the LGBT Gay sober living community. Our transitional home is free of predjudice, judgments and discrimination of any form. It is a sober living environment that allows one to heal and experience themselves as whole and complete.
